notes
for these Real Gone CD reissues:
David
Axelrod: David Axelrod's Rock
Interpretation of Handel's Messiah. Just what the title says -- a
rock version of Messiah by
the guy who has one of the most avid cults of any producer/arranger of
the '60s and '70s.
T.S. Bonniwell: Close. T.S. Bonniwell was better known
as Sean Bonniwell, leader, lead singer, and main songwriter of the
Music Machine. His rare 1969 solo album was more in the folk-pop vein,
with orchestrated production by ex-Animals guitarist Vic Briggs.
The
Electric Prunes: Complete Reprise
Singles. All of the tracks released on Electric
Prunes singles between 1966 and 1969.
The Germs: (GI). The only album by one of the
most legendary early Los Angeles punk bands, produced by Joan Jett.
Barbara Lewis: The Complete Atlantic
Singles. The A-sides and B-sides of all seventeen singles
this great soul singer issued on Atlantic Records between 1962 and 1968.
McGough & McGear: McGough & McGear.
McGough was Roger McGough; McGear was Mike McGear, also known as Mike
McCartney, younger brother of Paul. Two-thirds of the British
pop/comedy group the Scaffold, in 1968 they released their only album,
which was more pop than comedy. Includes guest guitar by Jimi Hendrix
and numerous instrumental/vocal/production contributions from Paul
McCartney.
David Peel: Have a Marijuana.
The 1968 debut album by this legendary New York street musician.
Rick
Springfield: Beginnings. The first solo album by Rick
Springfield, long before his '80s superstardom as both a pop-rock
musician and television fixture on General
Hospital. Includes the 1972 hit "Speak to the Sky."
